Health & Safety Policy Statement
1. Statement of Intent
Hellbird Tree Works is committed to ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety, and welfare of its employees, clients, and members of the public who may be affected by our work activities.
We recognise our responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other relevant legislation, and we aim to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
2. Responsibilities
The overall responsibility for health and safety lies with Hellbird Tree Works. We will:
Provide and maintain safe systems of work
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and safe to use
Provide appropriate training, instruction, and supervision
Carry out risk assessments for all work activities
Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation
All employees and subcontractors are expected to:
Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others
Follow safe working procedures and instructions
Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
Report hazards, accidents, or unsafe conditions promptly
3. Arrangements
Risk Assessments
All work will be subject to site-specific risk assessments prior to commencement. Control measures will be implemented to minimise risks.
Training and Competence
All operatives are trained to relevant industry standards (including NPTC certification where applicable) and are competent to carry out arboricultural work safely.
Equipment
All tools and machinery are regularly inspected, maintained, and used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry best practice.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Appropriate PPE (including helmets, chainsaw protection, eye and ear protection, and high-visibility clothing) will be worn at all times as required.
Accident Reporting
All accidents, incidents, and near misses will be recorded and investigated where necessary to prevent recurrence.
Public Safety
Measures will be taken to protect members of the public, including the use of barriers, signage, and safe working zones where required.
